| Hillcrest Lease application
Contact: Mike Lamb, Hillcrest Lease chairman The lease was approved in July 2007. A gate was installed at the west end of the lease in late September. Ground preparation for seeding was completed in October. More work is scheduled for the spring, 2008, including seeding, signage installation, public information pamphlet and event, weed pull, bank erosion assessment. A parking lot and bear-proof bin will also be provided. Stay tuned. Background The chapter originally applied for conservation leases on the Crowsnest River at Burmis Lake and below Hillcrest, but the application was split when it appeared the Hillcreast proposal involved some access complications. The Burmis lease went ahead in late 2002. The access difficulty at Hillcrest was resolved with CP Rail in the summer of 2006. That will involve some fencing to separate the access point from the CP Rail tracks. |
