| Ron Beck Endowment Fund The Oldman River Chapter is honored to donate $1,000 towards the establishment of the "Oldman River Chapter of Trout Unlimited - Ron Beck Memorial Endowment". This scholarship fund will provide an opportunity for future environmental science students to follow one of the many paths charted by Ron. Ron was someone who contributed greatly to all aspects of fisheries in Alberta, and beyond. Ron was instrumental in developing fish health protocols for aquaculture development, and in working on strains rainbow trout that would increase the success rate of stocking programs in the prairies. He participated in groundbreaking research on aquatic vegetation management using grass carp. Ron worked on everything from fish and riparian habitats to whirling disease issues. He was particularly committed to reversing the precarious state of our native species, including cutthroat and bull trout. Ron worked in the Environmental Science program at the Lethbridge Community College. He taught, mentored, inspired, and influenced many young men and women who went on to become conservation officers, park wardens, technicians, and biologists. They can be found working from the from the coastlines of British Columbia, all across the three prairie province, from the 49th parallel (the US border) all the way to the artic circle. Anyone wishing to make a tax-deductible contribution to the memorial endowment can do so through the Lethbridge Community College Foundation Office. Our chapter would be happy to assist you in any way we can in this endeavor. Please let your friends and fellow anglers know about this opportunity to invest in education and in fish for tomorrow.
